T Razzano Dragonfly Moment

The art of photography fits my personality perfectly. I am very nostalgic and sentimental and believe in honoring the important moments in the past. To me, photography is the essence of nostalgia, sentimentality and holding onto the past. Holding onto the past doesn’t have to have a negative connotation. It can be a way of preserving a precious, unique moment in time. It can be a way of honoring the history of people or things.
Once you really get “into” photography, you realize the incredible, transient nature of life. Take a walk one weekend to shoot the blooming dogwoods. Go the following weekend and you find shriveled flowers falling to the earth. Ask yourself what will bloom next and will I be there to capture the perfect shot? Will the sun shine perfectly? Will the wind calm down? Each moment you capture on film can never be retrieved except through viewing this medium. Now try growing the perfect, white orchid in your home. It begins to bloom. Take a picture now, because it won’t last forever. Wouldn’t you love to remember it just as it is in the splendid moment of budding or full bloom?
