Mosaic Techniques for Architectural Applications
with Joanne Chase
Friday August 13, 2010, 11-5
Saturday August 13, 2010, 9-5
Sunday August 15, 2010 10-1

Mosaics can be made in the studio (comfortably) and later applied to architectural surfaces such as walls or floors. The techniques used to do this are working on mesh (adhering to fiberglass mesh which lets you work with much larger sections in application) and working in reverse (which allows the mosaic surface to be very smooth, suitable for a table top). In this workshop we will make a small mosaic in each of these techniques, and we'll discuss architectural applications.
Joanne will supply tools, materials, and a candy store of beautiful Italian glass tile. She'll go over basic cutting and design techniques if you're new to the game, or you can take it to the next level if you are more experienced. We will finish with grouting on Sunday, so you'll see the process from start to finish. Bring your questions, lunch on Friday and Saturday, and plan to have fun.
Fees: $225 (all materials supplied)
$100 deposit required to hold space
$125 balance due: July 23rd
Workshop will be limited to 10 participants.
