Madrona Arts River Circles

The Madrona Arts River Circle Group returns to display their River Circles created from recycled fabric, yarn, and gathered natural fibers.  This community project has reached its goal: to produce one River Circle for each five miles of the Klamath River, with the intention of raising awareness of the many diverse issues of the Klamath River Basin, and to benefit the fisheries and environmental programs of the First Nations of the Klamath Rivers.

“Some of the last remaining stocks of wild Pacific salmon spawn in this river. We intend to bring attention to their plight and to the tribes who have lived on the Klamath and its tributaries for over 7000 years and who depend on the salmon for their culture and livelihood.”

The group has completed 53 River Circles which will be on display for the month of March. Thirty percent of the sales of River Circles will be donated to The Tribal Environment and Fisheries Programs through Madrona Arts.  Specific information is available on the Madrona Arts website: www.madronaarts.org

The River Circle Artists include:  Diana Hartel, Ann DiSalvo,  Goly Ostavar, Sarah Sanders, Holiana Sapinsley, Alice Kilham, Barbara Massey, Tirso Cleves, Joanna Niemann, Midge Black, Ruthe Woudenberg, Denise Johnson,  Pat Holton, Amber Dusk, Jaleh Ostovar, Sooney Viani, Suzanne Frey, Joy Belhumeur, Katie Ketchum, Darlene Beckett, Janis Buckham, Frances Oyung.
